He had been the recipient of the Billy Mitchell Memorial Awards, honors from the U.S. The company, which now employs over 1,200 people worldwide, became his true passion. From working with the US Navy developing a secret radar technology during WWII years, to rising to the executive level of defense companies, it wasn’t until 1959 when Nate co-founded Astronautics Corporation of America with his sister, the late Norma Paige. In addition to his many academic accolades and achievements, Nate’s professional career was just as illustrious. As a young immigrant from Poland, Nate quickly became a studious and successful engineer. On Thursday, November 22nd, 2018, Nathaniel “Nate” Zelazo, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away at the age of 100. An intrepid world traveler with his wife and family to most of the world’s continents. Enthusiastic guitar player, avid reader, accomplished golfer, sports lover and lifelong learner, auditing classes at UWM from Ancient Civilizations to the History of Baseball. He was a co-founder and celebrated point guard of the Gladiators, a local sports team. He was a surgeon, Captain in the US Air Force in the Korean War era and member of the American College of Surgeons. He graduated from Washington High School, Marquette University and then Marquette Medical School (Medical College of Wisconsin). At his retirement in his upper eighties, he was the oldest practicing general surgeon in the state of Wisconsin. Marvin was a distinguished general surgeon and an Associate Professor at the Medical College of WI. He adored his wife and family, reveled in their accomplishments, and was loved and respected by all. 14, 1922, passed away peacefully Friday evening, April 12, 2019, with family by his side.
